FlightBot requires a connection via Facebook Messenger to work. While using FlightBot, the user is interacting with Facebook servers and FlightBot servers simultaneously. FlightBot servers receive authorization tokens from Facebook that allow it to access application programming interfaces to communicate with you via Messenger and also get basic information about you through your Facebook profile. FlightBot uses and stores your name and timezone on FlightBot's servers, as well as any additional information you voluntarily provide during conversations such as specific data requests, locations, and airports of interest.
FlightBot never transmits personally identifiable information to 3rd parties and only communicates with other servers, such as the FAA's NOTAMs website and NOAA's Aviation Weather Center for the purposes of getting aviation-related data.
